Statewide Automated Welfare System (SAWS)

The SAWS project is the automation of county welfare business processes for the following programs:

CalWORKs, SNAP, Medi-Cal, Foster Care, Refugee, and County Medical Services.

SAWS is being implemented through three consortia.

Los Angeles Eligibility, Automated Determination, Evaluation and Reporting (LEADER) Consortium

Welfare Client Data System (WCDS) Consortium

Consortium IV (C-IV)

The Office of Systems Integration is responsible for state-level project management and oversight. The Consortia are responsible for local project management.

The SAWS project also includes the Welfare Data Tracking Implementation Project (WDTIP).
